How to Fix Kernel Security Check failure in Windows

Kernel security is an important aspect of any computer and especially Windows machine. The operating system doesn’t pass the information to the hardware because the corrupted Kernel or affected Kernel can cause a lot of problems.

If you are getting “Kernel security check error” on your Windows computer, then there might be a major problem in the operating system. The users must not ignore it because it can convert into a major problem ahead of time.

Solution #1: Overclocking

Windows machines running AMD processors & Nvidia graphics card usually tweak the CPU processor & GPU processor. The Kernel is a path creator for hardware & software to communicate with each other so that it can have a complete a task. Kindly, uninstall overclocking programs on your computer to reset the values. Remove the new values from the motherboard BIOS, so it can no longer interrupt your computer.

Overclocking from BIOS is not a good idea unless the motherboard officially supports it.

Solution #2: Safe Mode

Before we move to the advanced methods, confirming the problem is essential because it could trigger from any problem. We have so many problems that cause one error; it isn’t easy to find the solution.

A safe Mode is an excellent tool Microsoft added to all Windows operating system. The OS starts in safe mode, which loads the necessary components drivers and basic functions. In short, Windows won’t load GPU, Audio, Network hardware, and others. The problem occurs when you have a misconfigured program or contradicting program.

Identifying the culprit is an important aspect of the safe mode, so make sure to look into the installed programs. Go to device manager and uninstall unknown drivers or not recognized drivers in the list.

Start with the most recent installs and end with the old ones. Install one or two drivers + programs, and then restart your computer. We know that it isn’t a time efficient solution, but it minimizes the risks.

Solution #3: Windows Update

Those who are using an old build version of the operating system must enable the update because Microsoft is pushing it for a reason. The latest Windows 10 update pushed by the company like never before, and there is a reason behind it.

The software company identified that the old build version have vulnerabilities and it can affect the overall performance of the computer. You cannot ignore it, especially the security update.

Microsoft released 4 GB file size update to the 2016 build version of Windows 10 OS. Those with slower connection have to suffer from updates & installation because it took four hours for my modern entry-level computer to install the updates.

Solution #4: Memory Diagnostic & File System Check

Microsoft added an advanced feature of file system check and “memory diagnostic tool.” The memory tool enables the program to check the RAM health accurately. The tool does not fail to recognize the errors in the RAM stick, and even if there are minor problems, then it will let you know in the report.

The “file system check” tool comes inbuilt in Windows OS, and it enables the users to check the core files of the operating system. The tool checks every file it can find in the core system, and it verifies, whether it was modified, tampered, missing, corrupted, signed by Microsoft or not, and more.

Overall, it will confirm every file signed by MS to ensure that no one tampered it.

Memory Diagnostic:

RAM stick testing tool does not show up on your screen until you allow it from the computer.

Step 1: Click on Windows key + S and type “memory diagnostics” and run as administrator the first result.

Step 2: You have two options on the tab and select any one of them to begin the process. The first option instantly begins the process, while the second one takes a restart to begin the process.

Step 3: In the memory-testing tool, you have two steps and let the computer finish the two steps to display the results. The overall testing process takes plenty of time to finish 100%, so wait for it.

Step 4: By the end of the RAM stick testing, you will get the results in the status bar.

File System Check:

Go to safe mode, if the computer doesn’t start and then try this method. You have to log in to your computer to use this method. Fortunately, the Windows allows CMD option in UEFI mode as well, so you can get into UEFI mode or recovery mode.

Step 1: Launch CMD as administrator. If you are in recovery mode or UEFI mode, then a single click is enough to run as administrator.

Step 2: Now, “sfc /scannow” paste the code in the command prompt and hit enter.

The overall file scanning takes around ten minutes to twenty minutes to complete. Do not shut down your computer or unplug the power cord.

Solution #5: Reset

Windows 10 and Windows 8 operating system comes with an advanced option “reset” that offers fresh installation of OS without a CD or DVD.

Yes, in the final resort, you have the option to reset the computer because users cannot ignore it. The kernel is a path that enables the software to communicate with the hardware. In case, if you are planning to reset the computer, then back up the files in Downloads, Music, Videos, Documents, and more.

Resetting the computer wipes out entire data such as programs, download files, and others. Do not touch the partitions because they remain unaffected.

Conclusion

Mostly, the “file system checker” will fix the issue, but I recommend you to try the latest Malwarebytes & Avast Antivirus to scan for threats. These security programs will probably identify the issues in the PC and solve them. Let us know what do you think about it in the comment section below.
